Eyeline marks its panel as excluded from capture, and macOS enforces that inside the window server. Every app that shares or records your screen receives frames with the panel already removed. There is nothing to hide, and nothing to remember to hide.
The mechanism
How does Eyeline stay invisible during a screen share?
The Eyeline window is marked as excluded from screen capture, and macOS enforces that rule inside the window server, the system process that assembles every pixel your Mac draws. The exclusion happens before any capturing app receives a frame.
That distinction matters. Eyeline is not stacking a window behind yours, not watching for Zoom to launch, and not blanking the panel on a timer and hoping it wins the race. There is no race. By the time a capture stream exists, the panel is not in it.
The practical consequence is that this works with software we have never heard of. Any app that gets your screen the normal way, which is every app that can, gets it without the panel.

The window declares itself
Eyeline creates its panel with the window sharing type set to none. That is a documented AppKit property, not a private API or a hack.

The window server obeys
macOS composites the capture stream separately from what your display shows. Windows flagged as excluded are left out of that composite.

The capturing app never has it
Zoom, Chrome, QuickTime, and the screenshot tool receive a frame that never contained the panel. There is nothing for them to filter, and nothing for them to leak.
Surface by surface
What does each surface actually see?
Anything that captures your screen sees your desktop without the panel. Anything that looks at your screen with a lens or a pair of eyes sees the panel exactly as you do. That line is the whole story, and it is worth reading the table before your first call.

The camera row surprises people, so it is worth spelling out. Your webcam points at you, and the panel lives on your display behind the camera, so it was never in that frame to begin with. That is the same geometry that lets youread while looking into the lens.
App by app
Does Eyeline show up when I share my screen in Zoom?
No. Zoom receives your screen through the same macOS capture path as every other app, and the panel is removed from that frame before Zoom ever sees it. This holds for a full-screen share, a single-window share, and anything recorded from the call, whether you record locally or to Zoom cloud.
Is the teleprompter visible in Google Meet?
No. Meet shares your screen through the browser picker, and the browser asks macOS for the frames. The panel is already gone by the time Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Arc receives a single pixel, so there is nothing for Meet to pass on to the room.
Can Microsoft Teams see the script panel?
No. Teams uses the standard macOS screen capture path for both live sharing and its own recording, so it gets frames with the panel excluded. Teams on the web behaves the same way, because the browser is the thing doing the capture.
Does the panel appear in a screen recording?
No. Screen recording reads the same composited capture stream as screen sharing, so the recording simply never contained the panel. There is no post-processing step and nothing to scrub afterwards.
Will a QuickTime screen recording capture it?
No. QuickTime writes exactly what the window server hands it, and the panel is not in that stream. QuickTime movie recording is a different feature: it records your camera, which points at you rather than at your display, so the panel is not in that frame either.
Does Loom record the teleprompter?
No. The Loom desktop recorder captures your screen through macOS, so the same exclusion applies. Loom camera bubble records you and the room behind you, not your display, so the panel stays out of that too.
Do screenshots include the panel?
No. Command + Shift + 3, Command + Shift + 4, and the Command + Shift + 5 capture tool all go through the window server, so the saved image shows your desktop with the panel absent. The same is true of screenshots taken by other people from a shared stream of your screen.
The honest limits
What does Eyeline not hide the panel from?
Eyeline hides the panel from screen capture, and only from screen capture. It does not make you invisible to a physical camera pointed at your screen, and it does not stop a person standing behind you from reading every word.
So a phone filming your display, a room camera framing your desk over your shoulder, a mirror behind you, and a colleague at the next chair all still see it. None of that is a bug we intend to fix, because none of it is software. If you are presenting in a room with other people in it, sit accordingly.
One more case worth being careful about. A projector or a television mirroring your Mac is a display output rather than a screen capture, so treat it as a surface that shows the panel. Present from the second screen and keep the panel on the laptop display.
Should I test it before an important call?
Yes, once, and it takes about twenty seconds. Do it in the app you actually present with, not a different one, and you will never think about it again.
Step 1
Open Eyeline with a script loaded, then start a meeting with only yourself in it in Zoom, Meet, or Teams.
Step 2
Share your screen and look at the share preview, or join the same meeting from your phone and look at what it shows.
Step 3
For recordings, take a five second capture with Command + Shift + 5 and play it back. The panel will not be in the file.
Permissions and edge cases

Does Eyeline need Screen Recording or Accessibility permission?
Neither. Eyeline does not capture your screen, so it never asks for Screen Recording access. Its global hotkeys are registered through Carbon RegisterEventHotKey, which does not require the Accessibility permission. The only permission Eyeline ever requests is the microphone, and only if you switch voice sync on.
Does the panel steal focus from my meeting app?
No. The panel is non-activating, meaning it never becomes the key window. Zoom, Meet, or Teams keeps keyboard focus the whole time, and Eyeline responds to global hotkeys instead. Play and pause is Option + Command + P by default.
What if I share one window instead of my whole screen?
Same result. The exclusion is a property of the Eyeline window itself, so it is absent from full-screen shares, single-window shares, and multi-display setups alike. You do not have to remember which sharing mode you picked.
